Video walkthrough: Create a Data Room → Upload Document (DocKosha)

This video is a quick screen-recording that shows how to create a new Data Room in DocKosha and then upload documents into it.

Step 1 — Start on the Dashboard / Intro screen

  • You begin on a screen that says “Create a data room and upload documents” with a Get Started button.
  • In the left sidebar, you can see the main sections:
    • Dashboard
    • Documents
    • Data Rooms
    • (and other items like User groups, NDA Templates, etc.)

What this means: A Data Room is a dedicated space for sharing documents with tracking/analytics.

Step 2 — Open the “Data Rooms” section

  • From the left sidebar, click Data Rooms.
  • The video briefly shows a tooltip-style hint:
“Open Data Rooms to create a secure space for sharing and tracking documents.”

Outcome: You land on the Data Rooms page.

Step 3 — Create your first data room

On the Data Rooms page:

  • You see an empty state that says “No data rooms yet”.
  • Click the button Create Data Room (there’s also a New Data Room button at the top right).

A small pop-up dialog appears titled Create data room with:

  • Name (example placeholder: “Ex: Series B diligence”)
  • Description (optional)
  • Buttons: Cancel and Create

Action in the video:

  • A name is entered (the room ends up being called “Investors Docs”).
  • Click Create.

Step 4 — The new data room opens

After clicking Create:

  • You briefly see a loading message like “Opening data room…”
  • The app opens the new room titled Investors Docs.

Inside the room you can see:

  • An Engagement Overview area (shows metrics like document views, unique viewers, revisits, time spent).
    • In the video these are 0 because nothing has been shared/viewed yet.
  • A Documents area that is empty at first.
  • A prominent Upload Document button (top right) and also an empty-state Upload Document button inside the documents panel.

Step 5 — Open the upload dialog

To add files:

  • Click Upload Document.

An Upload files modal appears with:

  • A drag-and-drop area: “Drag and drop files here”
  • Buttons:
    • Choose files
    • Choose folder (keeps folder structure)
  • A Start Upload button (it stays disabled until files are selected)
  • A Cancel button

Step 6 — Select files (or a folder) and start uploading

In the video:

  • Multiple PDFs are selected for upload (examples shown later:
    QBR_Adoption_Report - Q1.pdf, Q2.pdf, Q3.pdf).
  • After selecting files, click Start Upload.

Tip:

  • If you have a full folder structure to upload (like “Financials/”, “Legal/”, etc.), use Choose folder so DocKosha preserves it.

Step 7 — Watch upload + processing progress

After starting the upload:

  • A small Uploads panel appears in the bottom-right of the screen.
  • Files move through a preparation/processing stage (the video shows statuses like Preparing and Indexing).

What “Indexing” means:
DocKosha is processing the file so it can be searched, tracked, and handled reliably inside the data room.

Step 8 — Confirm the documents are in the data room

Once processing finishes:

  • The Documents table populates inside the room.
  • You can now see the uploaded files listed (3 PDFs in the video).
  • Each row has quick actions like:
    • Preview (eye icon)
    • More options (three-dot menu)

Done: Your data room now contains uploaded documents and is ready to share.
