Frequently asked questions
Quick answers about secure document sharing, virtual data rooms, analytics, and privacy.
Getting started
What is DocKosha?
DocKosha is a secure document sharing and virtual data room platform built for high-fidelity viewing, access controls, watermarking, and privacy-first analytics.
What’s the difference between a secure link and a data room?
A secure link is best for sharing a single document with link-level controls. A data room is best for sharing a structured set of documents and folders with unified access rules and aggregated analytics.
Can I create multiple links for the same document?
Yes. You can create multiple links with different access rules, expirations, and analytics. Each link can be revoked or updated independently.
Do you charge per viewer or per share link?
No. Pricing is workspace-based so you can share with external stakeholders without per-viewer surprises.
Do you offer a trial?
Yes. Essential includes a 14-day trial with no credit card required so you can validate the workflow before committing.
Files, viewing, and downloads
Which file types can I upload?
DocKosha supports PDFs plus PPT/PPTX, DOC/DOCX, XLS/XLSX/XLSM/CSV, and Markdown. It also supports JPG/JPEG/PNG/WEBP images, MP4/MOV/AVI/MKV/WEBM video, and MP3/WAV/OGG/AAC audio.
What happens when I upload a PPT, DOC, or XLS file?
Supported non-PDF formats convert to PDF for consistent viewing, watermarking, and analytics. If conversion fails, the viewer falls back to the original file.
How do watermarked downloads work?
When watermarking is enabled, downloads stream the converted PDF and always use a .pdf filename. When watermarking is disabled, downloads stream the original uploaded file.
Security, privacy, and analytics
How can I restrict access to a shared document?
Use link gates like passwords, email verification, allowlists, and NDA acceptance. You can also set expirations, enable/disable downloads, and apply dynamic watermarking.
Does analytics collect personal data?
Analytics are anonymized by default. DocKosha does not store raw IP addresses, and viewer email is captured only when link settings require it (for example, Email Verification, Allowlist gates, or NDA).
Can I export analytics to CSV?
Document-level CSV export is available. Data room and workspace exports are planned on the roadmap.
What can I track with analytics?
Track views, time per page, downloads, and engagement signals. Viewer-level insights appear when your links require verified identity (email/NDA).
