Video walkthrough: Filter and resolve comments on a shared PDF link
This video shows how a DocKosha user can review comments left on a shared PDF link, filter them by link, jump to the exact spot in the PDF, reply, and then resolve (close) a comment thread.
Step-by-step (what happens in the video)
Step 1 — Start the walkthrough
- The video opens with a title screen: “Filter and resolve comments on a shared PDF link”.
- The user proceeds into the product.
Step 2 — Open a PDF inside DocKosha
- Inside DocKosha, a PDF is already open (example file:
QBR_Adoption_Report - Q1.pdf). - You can see the main PDF viewer in the center.
Step 3 — Go to the Comments tab
- In the top-right area, there are tabs like Document, Comments, Share, Analytics, and Audit log.
- The user clicks Comments.
- A message appears briefly: “Loading comments…” (meaning the system is fetching comment threads for this PDF).
Step 4 — Use the link filter (show comments for specific share links)
- A Comments sidebar opens on the right.
- At the top of that sidebar there is a filter dropdown (example: All links).
- The user opens the dropdown and selects which link(s) they want to view comments for (example shown: Public link).
- Result: the comment list updates so you only see comments related to the selected link(s).
Step 5 — Browse comment threads (list view)
- In the right sidebar, you now see a list of comment threads.
- Each thread shows:
- The link type (example: Public link),
- The comment anchor/keyword (example: engaged room, questionnaires),
- A timestamp.
Step 6 — Click a thread to see where it is in the PDF
- The user clicks a thread (example: “questionnaires”) in the sidebar.
- DocKosha highlights the matching word/area inside the PDF (yellow highlight), so you can immediately see what the comment is about.
Step 7 — Jump from the PDF highlight to the discussion
- The video points out that the highlighted text in the PDF is clickable.
- The user clicks the highlighted “questionnaires” text in the PDF to jump directly to the related discussion thread.
Step 8 — View the full thread (thread view)
- After clicking, the sidebar switches into a detailed thread view.
- You can see:
- The thread title/anchor (example: “questionnaires”),
- Who commented (example email shown:
viewer@example.com), - Which link it came from (example: Public link),
- The comment history (example comment shown: “Correct”),
- A Reply text box and Send button,
- A Resolve button.
Step 9 — Reply to the comment
- The user clicks in the reply box, types a short reply (example: “Yo!”), and clicks Send.
- A confirmation toast appears at the top: “Reply sent”.
- The new reply appears in the thread history.
Step 10 — Resolve the thread (mark it as done)
- The user clicks Resolve.
- The thread is now marked Resolved.
- The UI shows options like:
- Reopen (if the conversation needs to continue later),
- View thread (to re-open the thread details),
- A Resolved status label.
What a normal user should take away
- Comments are tied to share links, so filtering by link helps you avoid mixing feedback from different audiences.
- Clicking a comment thread highlights the exact spot in the PDF.
- Clicking the highlighted spot in the PDF jumps you straight into the discussion.
- You can reply directly inside the thread, and then Resolve when you’re done.
- If needed, you can Reopen a resolved thread later.
